We are pleased to announce that Apeiron Synthesis will participate in the upcoming Flavors & Fragrances 2025 conference, organized by the German Chemical Society (GDCh). The event will take place on July 22–24, 2025, in Göttingen, Germany, and will bring together experts from the fragrance and aroma sectors, focusing on the latest advancements in fragrance chemistry and synthesis technologies.

At Apeiron, we believe that olefin metathesis plays an increasingly important role in fragrance synthesis — offering an efficient, selective, and sustainable approach to building complex aroma molecules. Participating in this event is a great opportunity for us to showcase our proprietary ruthenium-based metathesis catalysts, optimized for both R&D and industrial applications.
1. Ring-Closing and Cross-Metathesis in fragrance molecule design
Our catalysts enable high-yielding ring-closing metathesis (RCM) and cross-metathesis (CM) reactions under mild conditions, ideal for constructing macrocyclic musks, lactones, and other cyclic aroma compounds with high purity and selectivity.
2. Ethenolysis of renewable feedstocks
We will present examples of ethenolysis applied to the conversion of natural olefins (e.g., fatty acid derivatives) into high-value fragrance intermediates, supporting bio-based synthesis and waste reduction.
3. Sustainable chemistry in perfumery
Our metathesis technology aligns with the princiles of green chemistry - reducing waste, shortening reaction sequences, and enabling processes under mild conditions. This is particularly important in the cosmetics and fine chemicals industries.
